October 5 through November 28, closed Sundays, and the weeks a trusted processing shop in the region hears from more Zone 11 hunters.
November 30 through December 5, when every deer needs a check station before anyone talks about a trusted processing shop in the region.
Heat along the Taunton River and in Hockomock Swamp WMA, and the four-hour clock if the deer might be donated.
No processing fee on a qualifying whole deer, and a Zone 11 antlerless permit that usually takes two to four weeks.
The carry out of Erwin S. Wilder WMA, a whole field-dressed deer, and why quarters are not a confirmed option.
Start at (774) 961-6898. Telnyx moves that Taunton, Berkley, Dighton, Assonet, or Somerset call to the hub (508) 738-3388. Jane answers there, takes your details, and connects you directly with a trusted processor in the area. Nothing on this site is a Taunton street address for the shop.
The guides above are for hunters who already know the city and still want the 2026 sequence in one place. Taunton Game Meats is a referral line. This line connects you with a trusted processing shop in the region. The processor sets the price. The guides do not add a street, a drop-off schedule, or a rate. They walk through archery, shotgun week one, a warm October field dressing, a whole-deer donation, and the carry out of Erwin S. Wilder WMA.
The center of Taunton is in Wildlife Management Zone 11. The same pages mention Raynham, Berkley, Dighton, Freetown, Assonet, and Somerset, plus Route 24, Route 138, Route 140, the Taunton River, and Hockomock Swamp WMA. The five-vehicle dirt lot off Prospect Hill Street is the swamp lot hunters use as a landmark. It is not a processor.
Youth deer hunting is October 2 and October 3. Archery runs October 5 through November 28. The paraplegic hunt is October 29 through October 31. Shotgun is November 30 through December 12. Primitive firearms run December 14 through December 31. Sunday hunting is prohibited, so Sundays inside a season are closed. December 6, between the shotgun weeks, is one of those Sundays.
Shotgun week one, Monday November 30 through Saturday December 5, requires an in-person check station for every deer. Station streets are not printed here. Use the official check-station map. Week two, Monday December 7 through Saturday December 12, is when online reporting resumes. Report within 48 hours through MassFishHunt or a check station in any season, and write the confirmation number on the harvest tag. Until that report is done, the deer stays intact except for field dressing. The 2026 transport-visibility rule was removed.
October along the Taunton River and in the swamp can stay warm. Hunters Share the Harvest expects a donated deer to be field dressed within four hours unless the air stays under 37°F, and dropped off whole within 24 hours. It must be legally reported and tagged. On a qualifying whole donation the hunter pays no processing fee and can receive a replacement antlerless permit for zones including 11, usually in two to four weeks. Before Thanksgiving the program tries to issue that permit before shotgun. After Thanksgiving the replacement is for the next year. Hunters must use the official program map. This site does not claim a trusted processing shop in the region is on that map. Some processors decline partial donations.
Deer-derived scents are banned. Un-deboned deer-family carcasses from outside New England are barred. Chronic wasting disease has not been found in Massachusetts. Wear gloves and avoid brain, spinal, and lymph tissue. Quartered acceptance, cut sheets, sausage, jerky, skin-only work, caping, and other species are not confirmed. Taxidermy is a separate business. Capacity is not confirmed. A deer dragged from Wilder to a vehicle is still a whole, field-dressed animal until it is reported.
Zones 9, 10, and 11 have a winter deer season from January 1 through January 30, 2027. That hunt needs a 2027 license, on sale December 1, 2026. The guides stay centered on archery through the primitive season, which is when most referral calls from Route 24 and the river towns actually happen. Call before you travel. The processor sets the price, and a trusted processing shop in the region decides whether the deer can come in.
Week one of shotgun season still needs an in-person check station before Jane can usefully transfer you.
