How Our Deer Processing Referral Line Works

This line connects you with a trusted processing shop in the region for deer taken around Taunton. The processor sets the price, says what work is possible, and confirms whether the deer can come in. The website does not take the deer, publish a street, or list a drop-off schedule.

Week one of shotgun season still needs an in-person check station before Jane can usefully transfer you.

Where a Taunton Game Meats call ends

Start at (774) 961-6898. Telnyx moves that Taunton, Berkley, Dighton, Assonet, or Somerset call to the hub (508) 738-3388. Jane answers there, takes your details, and connects you directly with a trusted processor in the area. Nothing on this site is a Taunton street address for the shop.

What happens when you call

Taunton Game Meats is a referral line. You call, say that you are a hunter with a deer, and name the town. Intake answers and this line connects you with a trusted processing shop in the region. The processor sets the price. If you want steaks, grind, or simply a whole carcass taken for ordinary processing, that conversation is where the yes or the no happens. Cut sheets, sausage, jerky, skin-only work, quartered acceptance, caping, other species, and capacity are not confirmed on this website. Taxidermy is a separate business.

Say whether the deer is still only field dressed, whether it has been reported, and whether you have written the confirmation number on the harvest tag. Say if you were in Wildlife Management Zone 11. The center of Taunton is in Zone 11. Raynham, Berkley, Dighton, Freetown, Assonet, and Somerset callers should name the place they actually hunted, including the Taunton River, Route 138, Route 24, Route 140, Hockomock Swamp WMA, or Erwin S. Wilder WMA. The five-vehicle dirt lot off Prospect Hill Street is a landmark for the swamp, not a drop-off.

What you finish before the call

Report within 48 hours through MassFishHunt or a check station. Until that report is done, the deer stays intact except for field dressing. The 2026 transport-visibility rule was removed. Deer-derived scents are banned. Un-deboned deer-family carcasses from outside New England are barred. Chronic wasting disease has not been found in Massachusetts. Wear gloves and avoid brain, spinal, and lymph tissue. Sunday hunting is prohibited.

The 2026 dates hunters are calling about run like this. Youth deer hunting is October 2 and October 3. Archery is October 5 through November 28. The paraplegic hunt is October 29 through October 31. Shotgun is November 30 through December 12. Primitive firearms are December 14 through December 31. Shotgun week one, Monday November 30 through Saturday December 5, requires an in-person check station for every deer. This site does not list station streets. Use the official check-station map. Week two, Monday December 7 through Saturday December 12, is when online reporting resumes. December 6 is closed. Zones 9, 10, and 11 have a winter season from January 1 through January 30, 2027, which needs a 2027 license on sale December 1, 2026.

Read the deer processing referral for the full note on unconfirmed work, and read the drop-off checklist for what to have in the truck. Neither page replaces the call. Neither page is a promise that a particular Saturday can take one more deer from the swamp lot or from Assonet.

Donation is not assumed

Hunters must use the official Hunters Share the Harvest map to donate. This line does not claim a trusted processing shop in the region is on that map. A whole donation is field dressed within four hours unless the air stays under 37°F, dropped off whole within 24 hours, and legally reported and tagged. The hunter pays no processing fee on that qualifying whole deer. A replacement antlerless permit for zones including 11 usually takes two to four weeks. Before Thanksgiving the program tries to issue it before shotgun. After Thanksgiving the replacement is for the next year. Some processors decline partial donations.

Meat you keep is the call this referral is built to place. The processor sets the price. You leave with a yes, a no, or a question still open, and you do not drive to an address this site never printed. If a trusted processing shop in the region cannot take the deer, the tag and the confirmation number still have to stay with the carcass while you pick a legal next step.
